Study Tour of Indigo Farm in Tokushima

5月3日　藍教室の生徒さん達が　藍農家を訪問。

Students had a chance to visit an indigo farm in Tokushima on May 3rd.

佐藤昭人氏が所有する農場

The owner of the farm is Mr. Akihito Sato

who is one of a few remaining 藍師 AISHI in Tokushima.



藍師　AISHI is a person who

makes  蒅（すくも）SUKUMO,

traditional dye form made of concentrated indigo.

今年のゴールデンウイーク

藍住町の藍の館にて、

展示会がありました。

「藍の美展」ジャパンブルーの世界　です。

A short while ago・・・

"The beauty of Indigo"
The world of Japan Blue

was held at Ａｉzumi cho Historical Museum, called "Ai no Yakata"in Tokushima, during the Golden Week, from April 29 to May 5, 2016.

風になびくと、

桜が空を舞っているかのよう

Noren with Sakura pattern was used with the opening music of

ＮＨＫ period drama "Yae no Sakura"

It looks like cherry blossoms in full bloom falling like a storm

I love Aizome!

Living with Indigo Blue 藍と暮らす

藍染は身近な存在でした。
母が、藍染をしていたから。

藍染のスカーフ、チュニック、ランチョンマット
日傘に、タンクトップ等々。

母の作品を
もらって喜んでいた私。

そんな私が、
藍染の盛んな徳島に戻った。

ならば、
藍染をやってみよう。

ネットで探し、
藍染の教室見学に行った。

それが
2015年12月。

私の「藍と暮らす生活」が　始まった。


Aizome has been familiar to me for a long time
because my mom used to learn and enjoy it in Tokushima.

She dyed lots of things, such as scarves, tunics, place mats,
parasols, tanktops etc.

I was delighted to get them from my mom.

Last year I returned to my hometown, Tokushima
where Aizome is famous for.

Then I thought to myself 　〝Let's start learning Aizome!"

I googled a school to offer lessons of Aizome and finally I found one.

That was in December 2015.

Living with Indigo blue has started since then.
