いよいよスタート！

Now, time to apply the running stitches

染めをよくするために当て布を両側に置きます。

約1センチの格子に沿って、縫います。

2本取りで。

Place a piece of fabric to dye well on the both side.

Make the running stitches with double threads along the lines.

左端まで、行きました。

It reached to the left side.

↑

同様に他のラインも縫っていきます。

すべて縫ったら、糸を引っ張って絞ります。

Repeat this until all the lines are stitched.

Then, pull on the threads to tighten the fabric.

ひっぱったら、玉止めをしていきます。

Tie the ends.

1回目の玉止め。

布と玉止めの間の隙間をなくすため、

玉止めを繰り返します。

針は取り除き、糸は長いまま残します。

次の日に絞ると、また隙間ができているときがあるので・・・。

染める前に短くします。

The first tying the ends.

There is some space between the knots and the fabric.

Repeat tying to eliminate the space.

Cut off the needles, but leave the thread longer.

The next day you will realize tiny spaces between the knots and the fabric again.

Then, tighten the fabric again.

Before dyeing, cut the remains of the threads.

絞れは、絞るほど、染め液が染み込まなくなります。

綺麗な仕上がりになります。

The more you pull the thread, 

the less the dye will penetrate the stitched areas.

It will make the patterns more attractive.
