My first Aizome: Handkerchief★Ganki-shibori 初めての作品・ハンカチ★雁木絞り

My first indigo dyeing work is

on a handkerchief.

"Gangi-shibori" is the technique I used on it.

"Gangi" means a flock of geese flying in formation

and

"shibori" is a dyeing techique.

初めての藍染作品はハンカチです。

雁木とは、雁が列を作って飛んでいる様子のこと。

パターンを書き写します

adding a piece of cloth at the edge and stitching along each line

端には当て布をし、線に沿って縫っていきます

reaching the other edge!

but my mission is not done yet

端まで縫い終わりましたが

まだ終わりではありません・・・

but pulling, pulling and pulling on 

the stitches to gather the fabric tightly together

and tie the ends.

The fabric became like a piece of board.

しぼって、しぼって、ハンカチが板のようになるまで絞りました。
